GKA started with a first stop of the tour in Sal Cabo Verde- home spot of the leaders in Strapless Wave and Freestyle riding like Mitu Monteiro, Airton Cozzolino, Matchu Lopes and many more who take the wave riding to the next level!

Me i was the only polish who managed to show up in the heats and compete (there was one more polish girl subscribed but we didn’t see her in the water). In the final ranking i got 9th position, which isn’t the best result, but i can say with my conscience clean i was giving my best and fighting till the end. I can´t say all the rules and passing through the heats were fair, but putting sport in the range of World Championships or World Tour brings to it some bureaucracy and rules which will not be satisfying for everyone. Anyway me I´ll just try concentrate on the positive points of the event.

The event took place in Ponta Preta, which is a legendary Cape Verdian spot with offshore wind and immense waves! The conditions were classic for the first few days of the comp and that´s when organizers tried to finish all the heats. In man and female division the first 2 places weren’t a surprise: Airton Cozzolino and Keahi D´abovitz in man, Moona Whyte and Jalou Langeree in the ladies division. 3rd was Ines Correia which was a previous world champion and also now local girl in Sal.

I was excited to ride the wave and have it only to myself, as its normally quite impossible, because of big number of tourists and local people on the water in that spot. The heats were quite long (about 20-23 minutes) due to quite long period between the sets. I caught few nice waves but as my rival was a local Didi Lopes (Airton´s sister) it got me out of the chart. Ill be going to Dakhla for the next stop of GKA, stronger and more motivated than ever! Thanks Nobile for all the support! Stay tuned!
